If you have been on the YBC community site in the past few days, you may have seen a few changes.
The most important thing is that it is faster! We have changed our template design to something more recent, which has improved page loads by over 60% - but we are looking at improving on that!
One general lesson for us all to learn from this is that things change quickly and can have adverse effects. Last year, when we started developing the community site, we used the latest software, templates, plugins etc, but, over the following months, things were updated, responsive, mobile websites became a priority (thankfully, we were - are you?). All of this needed updating, revising and more! When was the last time you looked at your site or asked customers to comment?
With the cleaner layout, your profile page is cleaner and the main member overview menu is in the main menu bar, not in the top right.
BTW, please, please, please add your photo or business logo to your profile, here. We are a community and we do like to see who else is in our 'tribe', as pictures say a lot more than a silhouette!
We have also made the home page more of an information and sales page, as members will normally go straight to login.
We are not stopping here, though. We are currently testing a Groups feature, where you can create an area to meet with like minded colleagues, in any subject of your choice (a bit like LinkedIn groups!). We are also working on linking your social media accounts to your profile, allowing login via your SM account or posting things straight to your SM feeds.
