Equipment at work

A Hampshire metal manufacturing company has been fined for safety failings after an employee suffered an injury to his hand.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court heard how on 6 October 2014, an 18-year-old agency worker at Independent Ductwork Limited of Basingstoke was operating a three-roll machine when his gloved fingers were drawn into the rollers. His index finger later needed to be amputated.
