Four Unmissable Places to Spend your Easter

Chocolate shopping in Brussels

Forget the Easter egg bargains you’ve seen in the supermarket. If you’re serious about chocolate, there’s nowhere better than Belgium. This Easter, make your pilgrimage to Brussels – a place where exquisite chocolate is everywhere you look.

As you explore the city, you’ll be spoilt for choice with a huge selection of pralines, truffles, and other delicious treats. And, best of all, it’s a feast for all the senses. Chocolatiers work their magic from shops nestled between historic landmarks – perfect for intermittent pick-me-ups to fuel your exploration.

If you’re looking for something truly special, we’d recommend sampling the very finest chocolate at places like Godiva and Pierre Marcolini’s. Meanwhile, The Grand Place (or Grote Markt) is packed with discount selections that make ideal gifts for everyone back home.

Go chocolate crazy at Cadbury World

You don’t have to travel to Brussels for a chocolate-themed Easter break. Just have to stay somewhere near Bourneville, Birmingham and the iconic Cadbury World. There are plenty of places to stay in the surrounding area, from convenient budget-friendly places to luxury hotels.

If you don’t like chocolate, it’s probably not for you.

But if you do? Cadbury World is everything the name promises. You’ll explore fun, interactive exhibitions and attractions. You can drop in and watch a chocolate-themed 4D cinema adventure. And, yes, you’ll find the world’s largest Cadbury chocolate shop.

At Easter, Cadbury World is home to special events including sing-and-dance performances by Freddo the Frog and the Caramel Bunny, photo opportunities for the kids, and an egg hunt that covers the entire site.

Easter excitement in New Orleans

Nobody parties like New Orleans, home to the most vibrant nightlife – and daylife – around. The city’s calendar is full of festivals and events and, as you’d expect, Easter is no different.

On March 24th, the fun begins with the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) egg hunt and family festival, a huge event with egg hunts, a petting zoo, and a special appearance from the Easter Bunny. It’s a great way to spend the morning – usually in beautiful weather – and the museum itself is a great way to unwind after a hectic hunt.

Of course, it wouldn’t be New Orleans without a parade and Easter Sunday has several throughout the day. It starts in the historic French Quarter with mule-drawn carriages and convertibles and continues with the Gay Easter Parade later in the day.

And be sure to bring a basket – you’ll want to catch the Easter-themed treats thrown from the passing floats.

Tradition and ceremony in Seville

“Semana Santa” or “Holy Week” takes place in Seville between 25th March and 1st April – and it’s a real sight to behold.

During Holy Week, the streets of Seville come alive and crowds gather for Easter celebrations on a huge scale. The city’s streets, specially decorated for the event, are filled by processions of religious devotees in traditional dress – and plenty of spectators.

While you’re there, you’ll also be able to see Seville’s celebrated works of art, sculpture, and historic landmarks, from churches and sacred sites to museums and surprisingly modern architecture.

There’s still time to plan the perfect Easter break.
